Homelessness is a serious issue in California, especially in Tulare County. There are many programs to aid people struggling with housing, food, and educational success. However, many youth are unaware of these local resources. The goal of this website is to gather information in a singular place for teens to utilize.
The City of Visalia saw the largest change in PIT numbers (540 individuals counted in 2020 vs. 469 in 2022).
More people were accessing emergency shelter beds in 2022 (282 individuals) than in 2020 (227 individuals), however that corresponds to the increase in the overall number of shelter beds, which increased from 310 in 2020 to 442 in 2022.
The 2022 PIT count saw a decrease of 62 individuals (1,297 people in 2020 vs. 1,235 people in 2022), or a 4.7% decrease in the number of people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness in Kings and Tulare Counties.
